We are an independent family-run business, established in 1880. Three generations of the MacInnes family have served our local community, caring for your loved one with dignity and respect, like a member of our own family, a tradition we’re very proud of.
D&A Munn Ltd is led by Ian MacInnes, our Funeral Director, who has worked in the family business for over 30 years. Born in Oban, Ian’s commitment to D&A Munn Ltd began when he was 16 years old supporting his father, Ian Snr, who retired in 2019 after 67 years dedicated service. Ian gained his National Diploma in Funeral Arranging and Administration in 2020 and began to take the business forward building a new team to deliver the core values of the company in offering a personal, compassionate and professional service to the deceased in our care and a service beyond expectation to the families we support.
When you walk in the door and meet Ian you’re guaranteed a heartfelt hug, a friendly face and someone who will go above and beyond to support you in arranging the funeral of your loved one.
Shiralene Cave is our Office Manager, a personal assistant to Ian and responsible for the day-to-day running of the office. As a Funeral Arranger Shiralene will support you in arranging a funeral in Ian’s absence and is on hand to guide and support you through a very difficult time.
Shiralene will work with you to design and create bespoke order of service sheets along with other items of funeral stationery; beautiful, personal keepsakes for your loved one’s funeral service, a memento to cherish, to remember them by, with love.
Ronald MacMillan, Jack Hill, Ross Muir, Iain MacMillan and Peter Johnston make up our team of dedicated undertakers and bearers. Employed on a part-time basis our staff will attend to bring your loved one into our care, help with the care and preparation of your loved one and lay them at rest in their coffin. On the day of the funeral service, they support Ian in conducting the funeral service and are there to offer support and guidance to you.
We are a very small, committed and loyal team who care passionately about the service we provide to our families. We all have personal experience to draw on and this shared experience helps us enormously to offer our support to you and your family at such an emotional time. To be able to ease the stress; to offer understanding and sympathy; to offer expert guidance in a practical and compassionate way is more than just a job to us, it’s an honour and a privilege, we are proud of the difference we make to the families we support.

The Funeral Director Code of Practice was introduced by the Scottish Government on 1st March 2025 to ensure that every person in Scotland will have a dignified and respectful funeral and bereaved families can be reassured that good standards of care will be provided.
This Code of Practice is part of the Burial and Cremation (Scotland) Act 2016 and applies to all Funeral Directors in Scotland who must adhere to minimum standards in their care of the deceased which will assist in providing transparency in the goods and services offered to the bereaved.
The Code will provide reassurance to grieving families about the dignified and professional care of their loved one in relation to transport and care of the deceased, care of the deceased at our premises, viewing the deceased, arranging a funeral service, management of retiral collections, ashes management, business continuity and managing risk.
At D&A Munn Ltd we have been conducting funeral services for over 140 years and remain fully committed to providing the highest standard of professional service in the care of your loved one. We welcome the introduction of the Code which strengthens the gold-standard level of care we extend to you, our client, and to your loved one.
Respect, consideration and care for each family and their loved one make us the Funeral Director of choice for many bereaved families.
As a company we are accredited members of both the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) and the National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF). Our premises are inspected regularly and we are compliant with each Code of Conduct to deliver the highest standards of care and service.
We are proud to have had our work and commitment recognised with the many beautiful thank you cards and notes we receive and also in the presentation of awards from the Scottish Funeral Awards recognising outstanding service within the Scottish funeral industry.
